3 Meat Rubs You Will Love

3 Meat Rubs You Will Love

Dry or wet rubs are spice and/or herb mixtures that can be "rubbed" on meat before it is cooked. Dry or wet rubs on pork can provide you an easy way to make similar cuts with very different flavors. This can also afford you the ability to make the most of sales at the grocery store.

For example, let's say we purchase a large package of pork chops but only need 4 chops cooked. By varying rubs, you can eat the other chops with a very different flavor a bit later in the week.

Rubs are also easy to whip up in a hurry and our favorite rubs include simple ingredients that you can find in your refrigerator.

Below are a three of our favorite pork rubs.

Cajun Dry Rub
1 tsp white pepper
1 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp dried thyme leaves, crushed
1 tsp black pepper
1/2 tsp celery seed
1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
1/4 tsp salt

Asian Dry Rub
1 tbsp black peppercorns, crushed
1/4 tsp salt
1 tsp brown sugar
1/2 tsp ground ginger
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1 1/2 tsp anise seed, crushed
1/4 tsp ground cloves

Basil-Garlic Rub
2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
1 tbsp basil, dried
1 tbsp lemon juice, fresh
1 tsp coarse salt
1/2 tsp garlics powder, or granulated garlic
1/2 tsp black pepper, freshly ground

Instructions: mix together ingredients. Rub mixture evenly over pork, coating the entire surface. Cook pork as desired, or cover and refrigerate for 15 minutes to several hours to boost flavors.
