- Green onion
- Egg
- Olive oil

- Overmixing the pork may result in tough and dry burgers.
How to cook pork and apple burgers
In a large bowl, add Italian breadcrumbs and grated apples.
Make sure to drain the juice off the apples before adding them to the mixing bowl. The extra liquid will cause issues with the burgers sticking together.

Mash breadcrumbs and apple using a fork.
Add in egg, sage, rosemary, thyme, salt and pepper. Mix well until the egg is incorporated throughout.
Using clean hands, mix the ground pork with the seasoned breadcrumbs. Evenly combine the mixture, but don’t overmix. Too much handling will cause the pork burgers to be dry and tough as they cook.
Divide the ground pork mixture into six burgers and gently mold them into burger patties.

If you have a burger patty press, or biscuit cutter you can use either of these kitchen tools to create your burgers. Place formed burgers on a plate, cover and chill in the refrigerator for 30 minutes. This step may be omitted and move straight into the fryer pan or grill.
Stovetop Cooking
Heat a drizzle of olive oil in a large non-stick skillet over medium heat. Place the formed burger patties in a skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes per side.
As the burgers cook they should brown nicely. After cooking for approximately 8 minutes, insert an instant-read meat thermometer to ensure 160 degrees F has been reached.
Place a slice of cheese atop the burger if desired while in the skillet and cover to melt the cheese.
Grilling
Due to the soft nature of this ground pork and apple mixture, grilling these burgers on the a grill grate can be challenging. Ideally, you would use a flat griddle surface.
Arrange burgers on the grill over prepared coals and close the grill to keep a steady temperature of 350 degrees.

Grill patties for 4-6 minutes per side, watching closely so they don’t burn.
Check internal temperature with a meat thermometer in the same manner as with the skillet. Once burgers have reached 160 degrees F, top with chees if desired.
Then remove from grill and serve.
