Lasagna with Pork
Lasagna with ground pork is one of those traditional family recipes passed down from generation to generation.
We like ground pork in this recipe because it is a blank canvas for seasoning and flavors, letting you create your own version of lasagna. It also works perfectly in Taco Soup, Chili, or Tacos.

Ingredients
- Ground pork
- Spaghetti sauce: Add in your favorite jar of marinara sauce.
- Diced tomatoes
- Lasagna noodles: You may substitute gluten-free lasagna noodles.
- Cheeses: ricotta, parmesan, mozzarella
- Egg
- Olive oil
- Onion
- Garlic
- Spices: salt, pepper, basil, oregano

How to make Pork Lasagna
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion, garlic, salt, and pepper and cook for 5 minutes. Stir occasionally untilthe onion becomes a golden color.

Next, add ground pork into the skillet and cook until browned. Use a wooden spoon or meat chopper to break up pork into small pieces as it cooks. Drain grease.
Stir in a can of drained diced tomatoes and a jar of spaghetti sauce. Cook the sauce mixture over medium heat for 10 minutes or until thickened. Remove from heat.

In a separate bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, parmesan cheese, basil, and oregano. Mix well and set aside.
Spread two cups of ground pork sauce mixture over the bottom of a 3-quart lasagna baking dish. Arrange three uncooked lasagna noodles in a layer on top of the mix.
Spoon half of the bowl of ricotta cheese mixture over the noodles and spread evenly. Sprinkle half of the mozzarella cheese over the ricotta layer.

Repeat the layers—two cups of pork sauce mixture, lasagna noodles, ricotta, mozzarella.
Use the remaining pork mixture as a top layer and finish by sprinkling the remaining mozzarella cheese as the top layer of the lasagna.

Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil, ensuring it is tented. Bake for 45 minutes at 375 degrees F or until the noodles are fork tender.
It can be helpful to place the baking dish on a cookie sheet, especially if your pan is very full. This will help with the cleanup in case the dish overflows.
Serve with your favorite garlic bread and enjoy!

Why pork lasagna?
Ground pork is a wonderfully mild protein source that blends well with various spices. It readily takes on the flavors you want to highlight or emphasize in a recipe.
Pork is also an affordable protein option that can truly help ease those ever-rising grocery bills.
Is a 3 quart dish the same as a 9 x 13 pan?
In the kitchen pantry, everyday items have many names! This can be confusing when following a recipe, especially if your family uses its special names for dishes.
A 3-quart pan or dish, often lovingly referred to as a lasagna dish—especially when it’s deep—provides just the right amount of space for those hearty layers of noodles, savory meat, and rich sauce. If you don’t have one handy, a classic 9 x 13 pan works well as a standard baking dish for this Pork Lasagna recipe.
