How to make spaghetti casserole
Before starting the steps of this recipe, break the spaghetti noodles in half and follow the package instructions to boil, drain, and allow them to cool.
Preheat oven to 425 degrees F. Spray a 9 x 13 inch baking dish with non-stick cooking spray.
In a large bowl, combine the cooled spaghetti noodles, 1/2 cup of mozzarella cheese, parmesan cheese, milk, an egg, Italian seasoning, and garlic salt.

Transfer the noodle mixture to the prepared baking dish and spread it into an even layer. Place it in the oven to bake uncovered for 15 minutes.
While the pasta is baking, prepare the sauce. Brown the Italian sausage in a large skillet over medium heat for about 8 minutes, then drain any excess grease.

Pour the marinara sauce over the cooked Italian sausage in the skillet, then mix in the Italian seasoning. Stir well to combine the sauce with the sausage.
When the oven timer for the baked pasta goes off, remove it from the oven and lower the temperature to 350 degrees F.
Spread the meat sauce evenly over the cooked noodles in the pan, then add the remaining 2 cups of cheese on top.

Layer pepperoni slices on top of the cheese and sprinkle with a dusting of basil. Return to the oven and bake uncovered for 25 to 30 minutes.

Take the pan out of the oven and allow it to rest for 5 minutes before serving.
Is ground pork and pork sausage the same?
Ground pork is an excellent mild protein that pairs seamlessly with different spices. Pork sausage, on the other hand, is ground pork mixed with a selection of seasonings.
How to store spaghetti pizza casserole
Allow the casserole to cool to room temperature, and then transfer leftovers from the baking dish into an airtight container. This pizza casserole may be refrigerated for 3-4 days.
Can you make this recipe ahead of time?
Yes, it is easy to prepare this recipe in advance and freeze it. Assemble the spaghetti pizza casserole in a freezer-safe dish, following the instructions, and pause just before putting the pan in the oven for the last 25-30 minutes of cooking.
Allow the casserole to cool before covering it with aluminum foil. Don’t forget to label it with the date, cooking time, and temperature. To reheat, thaw the casserole overnight in the refrigerator, remove the foil, and bake at 350°F for 30 minutes.
